Physical Properties:

Sodium sulfate has unusual solubility characteristics in water.Its solubility in water rises more than tenfold between 0 °C and 32.384 °C, where it reaches a maximum of 49.7 g/100 mL. At this point the solubility curve changes slope, and the solubility becomes almost independent of temperature. This temperature of 32.384 °C, corresponding to the release of crystal water and melting of the hydrated salt, serves as an accurate temperature reference for thermometer calibration.

Application:

The main applications of Sodium sulfate is used in detergent & cosmestics, and used in textile, dying, glass, paper pulp industry. Sodium Sulfate pharm grade is used in Pharmaceutical industry.

1. The largest application of Sodium Sulphate Anhydrous is as filler in detergent powder because the cost of Sodium Sulphate Anhydrous is cheap.

In cosmetics and personal care products, Sodium Sulfate is used in the formulation of cleansers, bath soaps and detergents, and skin care preparations. Sodium Sulfate increases the thickness of the aqueous (water) portion of the finished product

2. In textile & dying industry, Sodium sulfate helps in “levelling”, reducing negative charges on fibres so that dyes can penetrate evenly. Unlike the alternative sodium chloride, it does not corrode the stainless steel vessels used in dyeing.
3. In glass industry, Sodium sulfate is used as a fining agent, to help remove small air bubbles from molten glass. It fluxes the glass, and prevents scum formation of the glass melt during refining.
